Gallup created the Don Clifton Strengths-Based Culture Award in 2020 to recognize organizations that drive performance by helping employees focus on what they do best, maximize potential within teams, and integrate Strengths-based development into its mission, vision, and values. Winners are selected following a rigorous review and application process. For the second year in a row, CrossFirst Bank has been honored as an award recipient.

In 2023, CrossFirst was named among six other outstanding organizations. In 2024, a total of nine organizations were selected as award recipients. “It is an honor to be included in a list with world-renowned organizations, such as Accenture and Southwest Airlines,” commented Mike Maddox, CEO, CrossFirst Bank. “This recognition is a result of the commitment that each of our team members share to promote the individual strengths of each and every one of us and our teams. I am proud to lead such a dynamic group.”

Since 2015, CrossFirst has continued to invest in a Strengths-based culture. Some of the ways CrossFirst embeds Strengths into its organization include:

  • Each employee is given the opportunity to take the Strengths assessment when they join CrossFirst.

  • During new employee onboarding, CrossFirst leaders share ways employees can invest in their strengths and the strengths of others as well as how they can apply it to their engagement and performance.

  • Individual Strengths discovery sessions with a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach are available to every employee, to take a deep dive in understanding their strengths, how they work with others, and more. If the employee schedules a one-on-one session, they are invited to unlock all 34 of their strengths prior to the meeting.

  • CrossFirst offers regular company-wide Strengths sessions focusing on one of the 34 Strengths.

  • Team Strengths, held by CrossFirst Strengths Coaches, allow participants to uncover ways to operate more effectively within their teams.

These are just a few of the resources CrossFirst offers to employees in order to help them invest in their strengths, maximizing their potential and their wellbeing. Maddox notes that while these resources provide a foundation for CrossFirst employees to maximize their potential and wellbeing through Strengths activities, it is the daily effort of each employee that makes CrossFirst an award-winning success.
